Webinars on the COVID-19 Crisis

Understand the facts of COVID-19

We recently conducted a Webinar to provide update information on the pandemic from experts in the Medical field. Thanks to Sri. Sadanand Mankikar and his team comprising of Sri Pramod Udiaver, Sri Karthik Kulkarni for putting together a great presentation over the intenet using the Webinar Technology. The Webinar was well attended and well received by close to 300 participants. The feedback received for the panelisits was overwhelming with many requests to repeat the webinar.

 

The three panelists who enlightened us with information on the novel virus and clarified many questions of the participants were :

Dr. Arun Chockalingam a career cardiovascular Epidemiologist is a Professor of Epidemiology, Medicine & Global Health at the University of Toronto's Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) and the Faculty of Medicine.  Formerly the Director of the Office of Global Public Health Education and Training at the DLSPH) and the founding Director of The Office of Global Health at the US National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). 

 

Dr. Arnav Agarwal is an Internal Medicine Resident Physician, University of Toronto. He is a front line physician at Toronto Hospital dealing with COVID-19 cases.

 

Dr. Vasundhara Srinivasan is a psychiatrist with a MBBS degree from Mysore India. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons having received training from university of Toronto. She retired last year from a very busy practice providing services for the correctional services.  Prior to that she worked at CMAH for many years.  Dr. Srinivasan has always been interested in providing care for fellow Indians and has found fusing her spiritual background in treating the clients to be very beneficial.

COVID-19 - Putting things in Perspective by Dr. Arun Chockalingam
The whole world is now consumed by the growing pandemic of SARS-Corona Virus 2 known as COVID-19. As the death toll and incidence of new cases keep rising the population all over the world is subsumed by fear. In this presentation we define the terms 'epidemic' and 'pandemic' and explain the difference between the two. We look at the origin of this virus which is a successor to SARS and MERS. The current (changing by the hour) state of this virus epidemic in the world including Canada will be delineated. Consequences of COVID-19 in terms of health and wellbeing of the global (& Canadian) population, economic, social and psychological impact will be discussed.

COVID 19 - Epidemiology, Screening and Prevention by Dr. Arnav Agarwal
This presentation will address the basic epidemiology of COVID-19 and populations at risk. It will explore current screening practices in Ontario, and where and when to seek care. It will also examine preventative measures that we can take to protect ourselves and our communities from infection. The presentation will be based on guidance from the WHO, provincial and municipal health authorities and governments, and recently emerging evidence in the peer-reviewed literature.

COVID 19 - Dealing with Emotional Difficulties by Dr. Vasundhara Srinivasan

This seminar will provide some guidance to the audience on how to keep motivated while dealing with isolation, stress and depression.
